timeline: star by star by star

so i found out about this timeline of nart, which reminded me that i wanted to post a running timeline of this fic as i update it AND of how things were changed leading up to it, so here’s a timeline of how everything has gone down in sbsbs under the cut!

sasuke, age 13, defects from konoha

naruto, age 13, begins training with jiraiya

sakura, age 13, begins training with tsunade

naruto, age 15, returns to konoha

gaara is captured by the akatsuki, and they extract shukaku

sasuke, age 15, kills orochimaru

• he forms team hebi, and together they begin to track akatsuki’s movements, gather intel, and train before facing itachi

several months after orochimaru’s death, jiraiya is killed in amegakure while spying

in late november, naruto, age 17, goes to mount myouboku to train in the sage arts for several months

• naruto receives the prophecy and the key to his seal during this time

in early july, pain attacks konoha, causing destruction on a huge scale; naruto returns to protect the village

• shortly before trading his life to perform rinne tensei, nagato tells naruto that akatsuki will be on the move

in early july sasuke, (barely still) age 17, confronts itachi

naruto calls together an 8-man cell to hunt down itachi, and splits off from the group while madara is attempting to keep them from reaching sasuke

itachi dies.

• august — one month after itachi’s death — team taka + naruto arrive in suna

i’ll be keeping this chapter list updated as i go; i’ve got the times planned out meticulously and i’ve got this timeline written out in about 15 different spots in 30 different ways to make sure that i’ve got it all laid out properly. if there’s one place the naruto manga really didn’t shine, it’s establishing a sense of time passing, so uhhh that’s what fanfiction is for, right?
