fic talk: lesson learned

i went through my old chorus trilogy liveblog tags just now and WOW. there are so many weird former parts of S11 au i alluded to that i... have zero memory of. why the FUCK didn't i actually plan more back in 2014/15. (j/k, i know why.) the rvb12 tag in particular was a wild ride because half of it was me thinking "wh?? i thought this was the plan from the beginning???" and the other half was "well what the FUCK had i been planning to do instead????" and for the sake of posterity, i really wish i still had those old notes.
this unintelligible post from 4/28/15? "i literally called that the squads would have accents in their captains’ colors four fucking days ago when i was writing for the au" bitch, w h e r e.
(side note: comparing carolina with all that equipment and a malfunctioning, splitting AI to the meta? 2015 me was on some good shit apparently.)
in other news, the word count in my doc for deleted things keeps growing, which is really paradoxically encouraging. konmari your writing, folks. it fucking works. as i keep writing, though, i keep wondering if the tone shift i feel is going to be as visible to other people as it seems to me. it's probably one of those dead pixel types of situations where it only bothers me because it's me, but i still wonder whether it'll be noticeable.
anyways! currently at 14,040 words of the next chunk i intend to post, i'm projecting maybe 17k or so for it. i was feeling weird about how short this part and the next are feeling, but then i realized that what i've got posted up on AO3 feels longer because there was a lot of worldbuilding necessary for the beginning. in any case, went over notes, added more details, reshuffled things, and god it feels so good to be working on this again. i'm so happy about it and i'm SO happy with so much of what i've written recently.
