well, it's very last-minute, but i decided to try writing (and writing down) at least something every day this month in the general vague spirit of nano. no specific word count or completion goal or anything, just Write Something As In Literally Anything every day and try to do sprints at least a few times a week. i'll update this post daily with what i managed to get done.

- 11/3: 3,684
- 11/4: 3,909
- 11/5: 3,937 (+181 moved to fragments doc)

current word count on s/d round two:

- 11/25: 2,232 (?)
- 11/26: 2,451
- 11/27: 2,686
- 11/28: 3,912
- 11/29: 4,338
- 11/30: 4,431
11/1/19
- 91 words on s/d
- worked today + had a long not-dnd sesh with dnd folks, but hey, "write literally anything" goal met!
11/2/19
- 461 words on s/d
- 306 words on S11 au
- 767 words total
- not bad! i felt really rough about what i added to s/d in particular, but i think i'll make a longer post about that fic. i'm in a weird spot (still) in S11 au where i don't quite know how to slot this one last piece into the puzzle, and it's important enough that i don't want to do it wrong. woof.
11/3/19
- 1,450 words on s/d
- DAMN. i'd deadass drafted a post earlier today to bitch about how hard a time i was having with this fic, but after chatting about lore i finally figured out what i wanted to do and where. god damn. 1.4k words in a day – and ~inspired~ words, no less, rather than a forced slog – feels fuckin' good.
11/4/19
- 255 words on s/d
- more than i thought, actually! i mostly picked at s/d today, and also FINALLY GOT AN AWFUL TRIUMPH DONE IN DESTINY so 255 words is nothin' to sneeze at. i really just need to fix the endings of the last two sections and this thing's ready to go.
11/5/29
- 209 words on s/d
- again, more than i thought! i did do a lot of deleting and shuffling as i edited, though, and i think this is just about ready to post.
- i stg, one day i'll be done with S11 au and i'll stop saying "when i'm done with this, i'll get back to S11 au."
- one day. soon.
11/6/19
- 80 words on s/d (among edits)
- done and posted! gonna write up something longer about it now.
- (aaaaand writeup)
11/7/19
- 11 words on S11 au
- hey, it's something. i actually took the day to read over part iii of S11 au and make some edits, which is where those 11 words came from.
11/8/19
- 347 words on S11 au
- 337 words on misc. things
- 684 total
- i sprinted, which helped! i think i found a better way to work in that One Last Thing i need to work in. god, getting back to S11 au always feels like coming home in such a good way.
11/9/19
- 292 words on S11 au
- oof. tired. sleeby. gettin' there, though.
11/10/19
- 230 words on S11 au
- i feel like i keep using this second bullet point to make excuses... but man, honestly, truly, just the fact that i've gotten some work done every single day this month so far is awesome, and i can't beat myself up for that.
11/11/19
- 443 words on S11 au
- sprinto bot was down when i tried to sprint with a friend earlier :( we did it old-school, but boy sprinto makes things easier.
- also might have written myself into a corner? i created a Predicament and now i don't know how they Get Out Of It. whoops.
11/12/19
- 18 words on S11 au
- lmao. well. i drew a scene i'd just written, so that's gotta count for some kind of... something. also edited and shuffled and picked.
11/13/19
- 81 words on S11 au
- huh. funny how that works. anyways i ABSOLUTELY wrote myself into a corner and i'm going to try my best to untangle this tomorrow. :/ but again, progress is progress! my goal was to write literally anything and by jove that's what i've been doing so far.
11/14/19
- 31 words on S11 au
- ~100 words of notes
- figured out how to solve my issue, kinda. i'm absolutely bushed, though, so it'll have to wait for the weekend, which will be busy between a) work b) pokemon c) dnd x2 d) raid, lmao.
11/15/19
- 37 words on S11 au
- work.. dnd.... pokemon.......... what more can i say
11/16/19
- 1415 words on S11 au
- this was hard-won :B i had a real rough time, then found the most ridiculous way to power through that conundrum i made for myself, and then sprinted. back to pokemon!
11/17/19
- 80 words on S11 au
- i was genuinely busy, and also mulling over how to proceed. bleh. bleh!
11/18/19
- 211 words on S11 au
- (grits teeth) any progress is good progress
11/19/19
- ~100 words of notes on S11 au
- i've hit a wall again, but worse. i can't get to the root of why i'm having so much trouble with this scene, but it's a pretty pivotal link and i just cannot figure out a good way to get it done - not even bleh-quality placeholder writing to be edited later. i can't get my chess pieces figured out.
11/20/19
- ~100 words of notes on S11 au
- more of the same. still stuck. on the plus side, i'm finding that handwritten notes help me a lot more than typed notes, for whatever reason. not helping enough, clearly. :|
11/21/19
- no work done
- we got super shocking news at work that threw all of us off, and between that and general frustration i'm giving myself a break today. aside from being really tired, i think i need a mental break from S11 au for a bit; whether this means i start working on something else or not just to stick to my goal for the month remains to be seen, but i feel like i work a lot better when i allow myself breaks from working on a big project like this.
11/22/19
- ~100 words of notes on S11 au
- got a few thoughts down about the very end of S11 au and some of the bits and threads i'll be bringing together and wrapping up. really just needed to not work on what i was stuck on.
11/23/19
- 1,015 words on S11 au
- god. finally. had a BIZARRE day at work, but got home and sprinted and that helped.
- i wrote a truly shitty, paper-thin excuse for a section that allowed me to finally move on to the next scene. i fear for what Future Me will have to do when i'm editing in order to get any sense out of it.
11/24/19
- 2,233 words on s/d outside POV
- wow. turns out i can do things when i'm not forcing myself to do them.
11/25/19
- ? words on s/d outside POV
- forgot to update wc, i think i "lost" words to editing but wrote more :|
11/26/18
- 219 (?) on s/d outside POV
- not gonna wring my hands too bad over When the words happened, lol. havin' a good time with some romcom tropes, though!
11/27/19
- 235 words on s/d outside POV
- at this point i'm just trying to figure out how far i can take an investigator being tangled up in a case of multiple identities without turning her into a total fool, but i'm having a hell of a lot of fun on the ride so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
11/28/19
- 1,226 words on s/d outside POV
- .....well it's not going to be a humorous fic anymore, since i sat down yesterday and banged out 1.2k words of straight whump. the good kind, though. (i hope.)
11/29/19
- 426 words on s/d outside POV
- managed to swing back towards "romantic comedy of errors" with this. still, not sure how humorous it'll end up beign overall, lol.
11/30/19
- 91 words on s/d outside POV (and counting)
- aaaaaand that's it! my goal was to write something every day this month and i've started writing today, so i'm callin' it here. yeehaw.
AAAAAAND DONE!!
total word count for the month: 11,154!
huh, that word count feels both way more and way less than what it should be. i've never really tracked word count before, though, so i don't have much to compare it to. i've also never done something like this (i.e. a specific writing goal other than "write the thing"), so... yeah.
my thoughts on what happened this month can mostly be summed up with this post, i don't know that i have anything more ~deep~ to add to it. i'm going to go back to what works for me, which is to say, writing when i feel like it, not because i'm making myself obligated to do it. i like writing, it's an incredibly enjoyable activity for me, but i just cannot force myself to do it every single day because i start to hate the actual act of writing.
