fic talk: getting somewhere

17,017 words for this chunk of S11 au! yeehaw. yet again i find myself not reaching for the bits and pieces i've already got written, but, eh. whatever. what i've been thinking about lately has been characterization, and doing a particular character justice, so that's what this word dump will be about.

there's a character who'll be showing up here that i mentioned previously as having been pretty minimal in my original plans but important now, and lately i've been thinking how i've characterized this person. something something subconscious thoughts something but i realized earlier today while i was fretting about "is this a step backwards for this character" that even if it is a step backwards, a) later in this fic there will be 5 steps forward in its stead and b) the step backwards is important to me. i've seen a lot of myself in this character the more i've been thinking about them/their role in S11 au, and Gosh Darn It, it's important to me to do this, especially because it'll change in later stages of the plot.

anyways, vagueposting over. i've got one last segment to write, the climax of which is done (and i think i might even end this chunk with that), and then it'll be ready to post. which is WILD. it has been over five years since i started writing this fic, and over three years since i moved here. that's been really messing with me lately, but that's neither here nor there. important things: i will finish writing this chunk soon. and i'm really excited to share it, since it's got some things i've really enjoyed writing.
